Seaview Community Kindergarten
Seaview Kindy is a Community Kindergarten
Seaview Kindy a member of the Community Kindergarten Association of Western Australia. The building is owned by the Town of Cottesloe and the kindy is managed by an elected committee of parents in conjunction with the teacher in charge and the principal of our link school, North Cottesloe Primary School.
Our wonderful facilities have been developed by the many families involved in our kindergarten over previous generations.
Seaview Kindy is set in a beautiful, natural, protected seaside setting with mature trees, grassed areas, a vegetable garden, and a run for our resident pet ducks, chickens and guinea pigs! The children enjoy playing in cubby houses, climbing on shaded equipment, cycling along our paths and playing in our sand patches. They also love their newly constructed nature-play area!
Our purpose-built, air-conditioned building includes mat and music area, art area, library and home corner. There is also a protected undercover area for lunches. We are well-resourced with many books, puzzles, art materials and education equipment for the children. We also utilise an interactive white board for learning.
Being a part of your community
Your child's transition from being home with you to formal education is a precious time. A Community Kindergarten, like Seaview Kindy, offers a safe and nurturing space for your child to explore his or her ever-increasing world.
Taking an active interest in the operations of Seaview kindy is essential to provide our children with a rich and rounded environment in which to explore, play and learn. Our Parent Management Committee, elected at the beginning of each year, are a dedicated group that represent the needs of our Seaview Kindy families and assists in the financial and day-to-day running of the kindy. Seaview families have raised funds to allow us to develop and maintain our facilities and build on our educational resources. Parents can also contribute by offering professional or trade skills or volunteering for odd jobs. There is also a parent help roster where you are encouraged sign-up to help with various daily activities such as, helping a small group with an activity, taking photos, cutting up fruit, etc. These are all great opportunities to meet other parents and see your child progress over the year and start to make friends of his/her own.
Our connection with North Cottesloe Primary School
We have a close link with our local primary school, North Cottesloe Primary School. Many of our children build friendships at Seaview Kindy which last them throughout their primary school years at our link school. Our teachers are involved in whole school planning and shared professional learning with teachers at the school. They communicate with the pre-primary teachers about developments in early childhood education, syllabus and preparedness for school.
